Revisiting a “Simple” Painting

Occasionally someone will comment on one of my paintings.  And occasionally I think back and recall what was going through my head when I created it.  Simple is one such painting.  And to be perfectly honest, I don’t think a whole lot was going through my head when I created this one.  :)  But really, I think that was the whole point.  A sunset is beautiful.  A sunset is fun.  It’s all very simple.  And taking a cue from nature, to live simply is a great way to go through life.  By the way, this contemporary art painting is available for purchase.  Please feel free to make an offer.

After selling the 3rd version of “Feel Joy” I decided to create another.  I chose autumn colors and worked on my first digital version of this inspirational painting.  This digital version is for sale on my website.  I have just finished the actual acrylic painting on a small 10″ x 10″ canvas.  It does look similar. I have yet to upload it on the website because I’m going to change the purple tones (you can’t tell from this picture) to be more grey as in the digital version.  This painting is going to also have a nice custom wooden floater frame built around it and will be for sale on my website as well.

Within the center of the heart is a very abstract form of 2 people coming together in love with their foreheads and the palm of their hands touching.  If you turn the painting  on its side the same form spells the letters “CRE 8″ to mean create love.  I am pleased with the colors that reworking soft pastels can create.  The colors and form developed very naturally. From this painting I hope to create another variation in acrylic that portrays the image of 2 people coming together a little bit more realistically.  Perhaps, I will add it to my Spirited Expressions exhibit.   This painting is 10″ x 10″ and is available for only $70.

“Relax” Inspirational Art Painting

Some people can’t see the word Relax, while others notice it right away.  The idea for this came to me while  I was sitting on the edge of a pool.  To create this I used an actual picture of pool water with its dancing reflections.  I mapped it out on some very large canvas and as I painted it I separated the different shades of blue.

“Live Love” Inspirational Abstract Word Art Painting

When I first drew this painting I knew I wanted to express a river flowing through the center of a figure. The river would symbolize the fountains of the spirit of love. The meaning would be to open up and express love. Somewhere along the way it hit me that the words live and love are only 1 letter different. When this happened I worked with the idea that the figure could be part of both words. His/Her out-stretched arms could express the feeling of opening up as well create the letter o. Notice how the painting flows over the sides. I thought that was a nice touch.

“Feel Joy” Abstract Word Art Painting

I have started to use the term “Abstract Word Art” to describe Feel Joy and other paintings like it that make up my Spirited Expressions exhibit.  I”m really not sure what to call them.  This painting is a blend of expressionism and text.  It has been a lot of fun to express them on canvas.  They are done on 1.5″ thick gallery canvas and I continued the painting right onto the sides.  You’ll see a better example with some of the other ones soon.
